EFÜR - EESTI FILATELISTIDE ÜHING ROOTSIS (THE ESTONIAN PHILATELIC SOCIETY IN SWEDEN) - CLUB INFO

Postal service was in operation long before there were any postage stamps in existence.
The very first postal stamps were issued in England, depicting Queen Victoria on one and two pence adhesives. Estonian philately was connected with Czarist Russia that printed its first stamps in 1857. The first true Estonian stamp, known as The Flower Design, was issued on November 24, 1918. Philatelic activity in subsequent years was lively and extensive.

World War II scattered Estonian collectors to many countries and continents. Most of them renewed their favorite hobbies in their new homelands. Today, the most numerous groups of Estonian philatelists outside Estonia are members of EFÜR in Stockholm, Sweden and E.F.S. in New York, USA. Each roster has about 100 members.
Smaller Estonian/Baltic stamp clubs are located in Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway and the Netherlands.

MEETINGS

Every first Tuesday each month (except for January, July and August) at 18.00, we have club meetings in The Estonian House, Wallingatan 34, Stockholm. You are most welcome to join us.
Mostly, the club meetings are discussion evenings but there are also some swap-meetings.
Occasionally, we also have some small auctions, about once a year.

You don't have to be an Estonian, and you don't have to live in Sweden to join us – we have members of many nationalities all over the world – in Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, USA etc, etc.
As a member of Efür, you will easily get in touch with some of the most prominent Estonian philatelists all over the world. They are just waiting to assist you with some invaluable advice concerning all matters of Estonian philately and postal history. Naturally, you will also get access to the member area of this site. Alltogether, there are at present more than 80 interresting articles covering all aspects on Estonian stamps and postal history.
The member fee is only 50 SEK a year (5 Euro, 6 USD).

Die Wiederbelebung der Estland-Philatelie in Deutschland begann vor 25 Jahren mit einem Treffen in Dortmund; vor 20 Jahren wurde die ArGe Estland im BDPh e.V. gegründet, seit dem 9. März 2005 ist die ArGe Estland in das Vereinsregister eingetragen. Zur Zeit hat die ArGe Estland e.V. 98 Mitglieder sowie 2 korrespondierende Mitglieder.
