Water, a natural treasure |
The Estonian capital's drinking water is drawn from Lake Ülemiste, which is fed by means of a
system of canals from several man-made lakes, such as Lake Paunküla and Lake Soodla.
Lake Soodla in the almost unhabited Kõrvemaa area was dammed from the the Soodla River in
1975-80 and it can hold about 9.1 million cubic meters of water.
Featured on the stamp is a part of Lake Soodla's sluice.
