Eesti Rahva Muuseumi Postimuuseumis näitame India kultuurist inspireeritud postmarke.
Eksootilise – kauge ent ometi lähedase – maa ja teema tõi meie lävele ja seinale Tartu Ülikooli doktorant, filatelist ja India kultuuri huviline Briti Deb. Tagasihoidlik ja india aktsendiga inglise keeles vestlev noormees on postmarkide vastu huvi tundnud ja India kultuuri filosoofilistest aspektidest huvitunud lapsepõlvest saati. Nüüdseks on Briti Deb keskendunud India väärtuste süsteemi tundmaõppimisele.
Näitusega soovibki filatelist läbi India kultuuri teemaliste postmarkide edastada Rāmājana eepose sõnumit igas inimeses peituvast jumalikkusest. Briti sõnade järgi õpetab Rāma lugu jumalikkuse olemust, milleni jõuab astudes tõe ja õigluse sirgejoonelisel teel, luues ühtlasi ühiskonnas heaolu, moraalsust ja sotsiaalset sidusust. Suure maa mitmekesise kultuuri erinevaid aspekte toidust tantsuni leiab näitusel esitatud postmarkide valikust veelgi. Kandvaks teljeks on just kultuurikontaktid ja mõjutused, sest enamik näitusel olevaid postmarke on välja antud mitte Indias, vaid teistes India inimestest ja kultuurist mõjutatud maades.

India Inspiring! - Inspireeriv India
03.09.2014 - 02.11.2014
Estonian National Museum Postal Museum shows postage stamps inspired by Indian culture.
Exotic – far, yet close country and topic was brought to us by student of University of Tartu, Indian philatelist Briti Deb. He has been interested in philately and Indian culture since his school years. Indian mythology in the Ramayana and the different aspects of storytelling in this widely adapted epic are his particular interest.
With this exhibition the philatelist hopes to spread the message of the Ramayana epic reminding about the divinity hidden in every human. The story of Rama talks about the nature of divinity which can be achieved by stepping on the road of truth and righteousness, in creating moral wellbeing and social coherence.
Various aspects of this great culture can be found on display. Some of the main topics are the cultural transfer and mutual influences. The stamps are issued by different countries touched by Indian culture. To Estonian National Museum it gives an opportunity to show a selection of our collections of other nations usually hidden from public eye.
