KROON
VALUES
Regular issue of kroon values during the years 1933-1940.
Design: 1 kroon Narva Falls - Karl Triumph.
2 krooni Harbour of Tallinn - GeorgWestenberg.
3 krooni Harvesting - Günther Reindorff.
Paper: white, thick (0.08 mm) or medium thick (0.065-0.07
mm, second issue of 1 kroon only).
Gum: yellowish, uneven, often with air bubbles. Sometimes
an off-white more even gum can be found.
Print: The first issue of the 1 kroon value was printed
in photoengraving, all other issues in recess-printing (line engraving).
We assume, that all issues were printed in sheets of 50, i.e. the
counter pane. No marginal figures are present. Register crosses (two)
can be found on top of the sheet. Less frequently (2 krooni) a third
cross can be found on the left margin,
Perforation: 13 1/2 x 14 - 3 krooni. 14 x 13 1/2
- all others.
Proofs: Essays, regular and irregular proofs exist.
Forgeries: After the war so called proofs of 1 kroon
and 2 krooni on colored paper (white back) have been printed with
genuine plates stolen from the GPW. The quality of the print is mostly
acceptable. These reproductions also appear in strips.
Valid until December 31, 1940.
