EFUR DONATION TO THE ESTONIA POST MUSEUM IN TARTU

The background of the Viking Ship stamps was printed first and the inscription and frame were applied in a second printing operation. The famous variety of the 5 Mk. stamp with the inverted background was probably printed by feeding a sheet provided with a background impression into the press with an inverted inscription plate already in position. Some of these stamps have gum and some have not. As far as it is known, this variety was never sold over the counter.
The Inverted Viking Ship stamp is very rare, especially as a block of four.

The above block of four was donated by EFÜR in October 2002 to the Estonia Post Museum in Tartu.
