Eesti Post : The Estonian Puppet Theatre

The Estonian Puppet Theatre was founded on 2 January 1952 and has become one of the most popular theatres in the country, playing to pre-schoolers and teenagers alike. The repertory includes fairy-tales and classical plays by Estonian and foreign authors.
Since 1955 the theater has its own house in the historical centre of Tallinn, where after major refurbishment completed in 2002, it has a big hall seating from 180 to 240 and an oval hall seating 77, as well as an open-air stage in the yard for outdoor shows.
Since 2001 the theatre has a branch in Tartu and regularly performs in Pärnu.
The stamp features the Puppet Theater logo (by Enn Kivi), and the attached label a drawing of a popular puppet play character, Krossu, drawn by 10-year old Marlene Kirs.
